September 24, 2022 Summary --

The KESD South 5/6 girls went 1-0-1 in two games at a jamboree at Lyndon Town School on Saturday. South defeated Haverhill 2-0 and battled to a scoreless draw against Danville to remain unbeaten on the season.

In the opener against Haverhill, Kenzi Lasnier delivered a delightful free kick from distance — scoring from outside the 18 — to put KESD up 1-0. The game was played with smaller-than-regulation goals.

Laney Cahoon added the insurance tally, slotting home a shot past the Haverhill goalkeeper to help South to its first win of the year.

Tanner Kittredge, Brynn Bullard and Izzy Parker all played in goal to help the shutout win. Ava Barrett and Tangeni Dimick made their season debuts, playing important minutes on defense and offense.

In the second game of the day, KESD played a tough, organized Danville squad for the second time this week (the two squads played to a 1-all tie in the steady rain on Tuesday).

Brynn Bullard starred in net. The Concord kid made several stops, including a highlight-reel save on a point-blank rocket from a Danville attacker.

KESD made a heavy offensive push in the closing minutes, but could not capitalize. Lily Patoine had a breakout game on the right wing, building confidence throughout the match. Chloe Johnson was key in playing a reserve role at center back.

All 13 team members contributed, including those not listed above: Lyra Simons, Adrienne Ranney, Poppy Beniash and Lucy Chase.

South (1-0-2) hosts Lyndon on Monday at Concord Field at 4 o'clock.
