Mandy Chapman has always had a passion for improving the health and wellbeing of her community. At just 22 years old she ran as a candidate for her local district’s Vermont House of Representatives. But after being involved in the pandemic response as the person who received questions from community members and provided resources, education and information to local businesses, she knew she wanted to go into public health.

Her career began at the local non-profit housing agency in the Homeownership Center, providing education to first time homebuyers and assisting low-income families in making necessary health and safety home repairs. It was during this time she became involved in the local Accountable Health Community, NEK Prosper!.

“I knew that if I wanted to make a meaningful impact for my community, the healthcare system was where I needed to be,” Mandy said.

In 2019, Mandy started working for Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, most recently as the Blueprint for Health Quality Improvement Facilitator. In January of this year, she accepted a position at North Country Hospital in Newport as the Manager of Population Health. Mandy is also on the ºÚÁÏÍø East School Board.

“In my personal and professional work it’s important for me to find ways to use different spheres of influence and networking opportunities to bridge gaps between different community sectors, and community health and different public health initiatives that are offered within our region,” she said.

In the fall of 2022, Mandy started her first semester as a Masters of Public Health student at the University of Vermont. In her current class, Bio Stats, she’s discussing how helpful it was to receive weekly COVID-19 surveillance and data updates from the State in allowing the hospital and community to make decisions about prevention measures and policy restrictions.

Mandy was born and raised in the Northeast ºÚÁÏÍø and, after finishing her undergraduate degree at UVM, went back to raise her family and pursue a career that would allow her to give back to her community and make it better for future generations. She lives in Lyndonville with her husband, three boys, four dogs and cat.
