There has been a positive COVID case in the third grade and Ms. Goldman and Ms. Nichols classrooms and for precautionary measures, all folks were sent home on Monday December 7. The students, faculty, and staff from Ms. Goldman and Ms. Nichols 3rd grade classrooms began remote learning. In collaboration with the Department of Health, we have now completed all contact tracing for the positive COVID case.   

Some individuals in this 3rd grade cohort (between students, faculty and staff) have been determined to be “close contacts” to the COVID positive case. The individuals identified as close contacts are required to quarantine for 14 days since last contact or for 7 days, then be tested and receive a negative result. Although we know who these individuals are, and have reached out to them, for privacy reasons we cannot reveal who was determined to be a close contact. Contact tracers communicated this information to the individuals directly. 

All other members of the 3rd grade community are not considered close contacts and do not need to quarantine. 

For continuity of teaching and learning, we have made the decision that the individuals in Ms Goldman and Ms Nichols classrooms- (students, faculty and staff) will continue in remote learning through December 18th, and return to in-person schooling on December 21st.

To have some staff and students return while others remained remote is not feasible for staffing and scheduling reasons. 

While all individuals in both 3rd grades remain on remote learning, only some of the individuals are required to quarantine, and those individuals were contacted directly. 

If you would like your child to receive free breakfast and lunch, stop by the Lyndon Town School between 3:30 and 5:30pm at the cafeteria entrance to pick it up or we can send it with a sibling if you call the school. 

As always, we will continue to follow our Strong and Healthy Start guidelines within our school building, including physical distancing, wearing facial coverings, washing hands, sanitizing, and other safety precautions. These practices, along with our cohort model, mitigate the spread of any virus.
